Location : South of Jaipur city in the state of Rajasthan

Built by the industrialist family of the Birlas, the Laxmi Narayan Mandir is dedicated to the Hindu Deity of Lord Vishnu as Narayan and his consort Laxmi. A holy place for the Hindus, the temple is known by the name of Birla Mandir after the name of the Birla family under whose instructions it was created. The Mandir lies close to the Moti Doongri fort which was converted to a small palace later by Maharaj Ram Singh II and Gayatri Devi.

Situated on the foot of the Moti Dungari hill, the Birla Mandir is often referred to as the replica of the Scottish cattle. The temple has three domes each signify three different approaches to religion. The magnificent white marble structure seems to glow at the darkness of the night. Today, the Mandir stands out as a great architectural marvel. The exteriors are given superior looks by the magnificently carved sculptures that depicts various mythological pictures and images.

The towers of the temple touches a height of up to 165 feets and the great hall is decorated with scenes depicted from the Hindu Mythology. The entire complex especially the walls and the gallery can be seen carved with paintings by the artistic hands of the well known painters of Jaipur.

Janmasthami is celebrated with great festivity in the temple and it is given a spectacular look with the decorations of light and Diyas that decor the places and sanctum of the temples. At night it changes in to a wonder that is beyond one's expectation. The white marble with the lights falling upon them gives a real picture of elegance in its best form.

The Laghu Samrat Yantra , a smaller sundial measures the declination of the celestial bodies.
