Situated at a distance of about 122 kms on
Delhi-Jaipur highway lies the Neemrana Fort. One of India's oldest heritage
hotels, Neemrana Fort-Palace located in the Alwar district was built in
1464 AD. Neemrana was made the third capital of the descendants of
Prithviraj Chauhan. Deriving its name from a brave local chieftain Nimola
Meo, this beautiful site was chosen by Raja Rajdeo. Though Nimola Meo was
defeated by the Chauhans, his name was given to this site as a mark of his
chivalry and bravery.

Sited on a majestic plateau, concealed in a horseshoe formation of the
billion year-old Aravalli ranges, on an area sprawling over 25 acres/10
hectares , the fort - palace rises to 10 levels and commands the most
splendid views from its ramparts. Its 40 rooms showcase an interesting blend
of traditional Indian and colonial styles.
Though there is nothing much to see, one can however visit the samadhi of
the renowned sage Chyavan , who is credited with the invention of
Chyavanprash. It lies not far from Neemrana atop Dhaunsi Pahar in the
Aravallis. Also one can go trekking to the watch towers on the hills or take
a guided tour of the 18th century Stepwell ( which can be arranged on
request). For those seeking to rejuvenate their spirits the Fort-palace
offers holistic tretments and Ayurvedic massages and rejuvenation
programmes.
