Urs Festivals :
Urs which is celebrated on the 27th day of Moharram, the first month of the
Muslim calendar. Urs Festival is celebrated in the memory of the Sufi Saint
Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, it is an occasion from 1st to 6th day of the
Islamic month of Rajab, when millions of believers come to congregate at the
shrine and offer their prayers. The tomb is decorated with flowers and lit
up with lamps before the ceremonies begin.
Desert Festivals :
Desert Festival is a spectacular event coinciding with the full moon in the
heart of the desert. The festival is organized by the tourist authorities as
tourist entertainment around January-February. The very rich and colorful
Rajasthani folk culture is on show here for a few days. Rajasthani men and
tall beautiful women dressed in their brightly costumes dance and sing
lingering ballads of valor and romance.
Nagaur Fair :
Nagaur fair is also known as the Cattle Fair is a eight day long fair held
every year during the month of Jan-Feb. The Fair is renowned for the trading
of cows, bullocks, oxen, camels and horses which takes place here. It is the
second largest fair of India.
Pushkar Fair :
The famous Pushkar Fair is a great tourist attraction. The fair is
predominantly a rural gathering. Villagers come from different parts of the
state and bring their cattle with them. People from around the globe come to
the ancient religious town of Pushkar which is transformed into a
spectacular fair ground in the month of Kartik.
Summer Festival :

Summer
Festival is held every year in the month of June. The hill station of the
Rajasthan in a festive mood with the Summer Festival. The three-day festival
is a feast of folk and classical music and a window to the tribal life and
culture of Rajasthan.
Marwar Festival :
The festival is held in the month of Ashwin (Sept-Oct) in Jodhpur, for two
days during the full moon of Sharad Poornima. The Marwar Festival is held
every year in memory of the heroes of Rajasthan. The main attraction of the
festival is colorful processions of women carrying images of the goddess to
the Gangaur Ghat of the Lake Pichola and the boat procession starting from
the Lake Palace.
Camel Festivals :
Camel Festival is a lively and colorful event, organized by the Department
of Tourism, Art & Culture, Rajasthan in Bikaner every year. January is
just the right month for a desert spree, and Bikaner just the right place to
see the Ships of the Desert.
Gangaur Festival :
The Gangaur Festival is the colorful and most important local festival of
Rajasthan and is observed throughout the State with great fervor and
devotion by womenfolk who worship Gauri, the consort of Lord Shiva during
July-Aug. A festival of young women , on this occasion young girls to dress
up in their finery and pray for grooms of their dream.
Teej Festival :

Teej
Festival marks the advent of the monsoon month of Shravan (August). Teej is
the festival of swings. The monsoon rains fall on the parched land and the
pleasing scent of the wet soil rises into the air. Swings are hung from
trees and decorated with flowers. Young girls and women dressed in green
clothes sing songs in celebration of the advent of the monsoon. This
festival is dedicated to the Goddess Parvati.
Mewar Festival :
A colorful festival consists of women, carrying images of the goddess to
the Gangaur Ghat of the Lake Pichola is major highlight. There is song,
dance, procession, devotional music and fireworks where almost everybody
participates.
Elephant Festival :
The Elephant Festival is an inimitable event held annually in Jaipur. The
elephants move with poise in pageant, run races, play the regal game of
polo, and finally participate in the spring festival of Holi. It is festival
time with elephants typically celebrated one day before the Holi, Indian
festival of colors.
