Essential India Tour

Begin with a wonderful sightseeing tour of Mumbai, the financial capital of India. See the Gateway of India, the Elephanta Caves and the Prince of Wales Museum. Fly to Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. Explore the tourist attractions and the colourful bazaars of this 'Pink City'. Drive to Agra to experience the eternal beauty of the Taj Mahal and witness the monumental structure of the Agra Fort. Drive to Delhi to explore both Old and New Delhi before flying to Goa where you'll see pristine beaches and beautiful churches. Get back to Delhi or Mumbai for your flight back home. 


Tour Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Mumbai

Upon your arrival at Mumbai international airport you will be received by Max Holidays representative who will welcome you to our beautiful country. After welcoming you and other group members, we will assist you to board on your air conditioned coach and check in at the designated.

Day 02: Mumbai sightseeing tour

Following breakfast at the hotel restaurant, we will proceed for a full day sightseeing of Mumbai. After visiting the Gateway of India built by King George V and Queen Mary during British Raj as an entry point to India by sea route. Next, we will visit the sea port from where we ride on a ferry boat that will take us to the Elephanta caves. The rock cut elephant caves here belongs from the 5th century and is dedicated to Lord Buddha and Lord Shiva. It is about 3-4 hours return journey from Mumbai to Elephanta. After returning from Elephanta caves we further continue our sightseeing trip of Mumbai. The next destination Prince of Wales Museum has article and artefacts from British period in India and World War I. Later visit the Dhobi Ghat, an open air laundry, where the large number of clothes are washed everyday by the washer men called 'Dhobhi'. In evening, we drive to Marine Drive or Juhu beach to enjoy the beaches of Mumbai, explore the localities and taste the famous street foods of Mumbai. Night stay will be at the hotel.

Day 03: Mumbai – Jaipur (Flight)

In morning, after having breakfast at the hotel, pack your bags for next destination Jaipur for which we connect our flight from Mumbai airport. On arrival at Jaipur airport, meet our representative who will assist the group to coach and drive to hotel. Check in at the hotel after a relaxing afternoon. Late afternoon, we will proceed to visit the Hawa Mahal, the beautiful pink and red sandstone wall with lots of windows; the monument was built for the entertainment of royal ladies, as they were not allowed in public, convention and celebrations, they sit behind windows and see the public activities. Jaipur is also famous for its block printing, tie, die, precious and semi precious stones. visit City Place and Museum, which is home of Maharaja of Jaipur and half of the palace is converted into the museum, where the artefact, weapons, rugs, jewellery, outfits are kept for public viewing. Visit to the Jantar Mantar, which was built for an observation of astronomical objects and movements, In evening, we will visit the local restaurant of Jaipur to enjoy our lavish dinner, along with the live folk dance performance, music, puppet show. Night stay at your hotel.

Day 04: Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort

After early breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the Amber Fort, which is one of the must visited monuments of Jaipur and North India. At the fort, we will enjoy the elephant ride from the foothill which will lead us to the entry gate of the Palace on the top of the hill. Please note as the elephants are limited here, we have to reach early. On arrival at the entry gate, the guide will accompany us to the fort, and provide us with the history of this glorious palace. You will explore the beautifully decorated courtyards, mirror works at the rooms, beautiful and antique artefacts and the oldest temples as well. If the group wishes, we can also visit the Jaigarh Fort by the Amber Fort on the next hill. Overlooking the Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort, famous for its largest canon on wheels displayed for visitors. In afternoon, we explore the busy streets of local markets of Jaipur on a rickshaw or we visit the malls of Jaipur, beautifully designed from inside. Relaxed time in your hotel and stay at night in Jaipur.

Day 05: Jaipur – Abhaneri - Fatehpur Sikri – Agra

On day 5 after the breakfast at the hotel we will gather in the lobby of our hotel and move ahead for our drive to Agra, the famous historical city of Mughals known for the UNESCO World Heritage site and symbol of eternal love Taj Mahal. During the drive, we will stop at the Abhaneri also called Abha-Nagri for quick visit to the Chand Baori', which is a large step well, which is used to collect and store the water at water scarce region. Continuing drive to next stop which is 40 kms before Agra city, the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri built by the great Mughal emperor Akbar, where he stayed for 15 years and then due to shortage of water in the city once again moved to Agra. After sightseeing of Fatehpur Sikri stops, we will again drive to Agra, and check into the hotel. In the evening, the coach will drop us at the parking area of the Taj Mahal, where we will hop into the decorated Tonga (horse cart) to enjoy the fun ride up to the entry gate of Taj. The Tonga will walk slowly by its owner (Tonga Wala) where you can click a lot of pictures here, Jump down from the Tonga at the entry gate of the Taj, where our guide will meet you and assist you to the sightseeing of Taj Mahal. Apart from already known facts about Taj Mahal, the guide will unfolds a lot of facts about the city and Taj Mahal. Night stay in the hotel at Agra.

Day 06: Agra – Delhi

In the morning interested group members can pay a romantic visit to Taj Mahal during sunrise (monument ticket not included for second visit). Have some early morning cookies and tea / coffee that will be served at the lobby. We will head towards the hotel again for having breakfast and check out from the hotel. Visit to the Agra fort, which is a red sandstone fort, built on the banks of Yamuna River. It is said that Shah Jahan was kept under prison here by his son Aurangzeb, from here he used to look at the Taj Mahal and miss his beloved wife in his last days. After sightseeing we will drive to Delhi, along one of the newly constructed express highways which provides us with the smooth 3 hrs ride to reach Delhi from Agra. Upon arrival in Delhi, check into your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 07: Delhi sightseeing

Following a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we will proceed for the combined sightseeing of Old and New Delhi. Starting with the two most amazing monuments gifted to Delhi by the great Mughal's - Humayun's tomb and Qutab Minar. Humayun tomb or often called Humayun ka Quila was built by Begum Bega, wife of Humayun, who after the death of Humayun, built this tomb and later cremated him here. Drive to the Qutab Minar – the tallest minaret of Persian architecture, which was initiated by the first Emperor of Medieval India Qutab-al-aebak and later finished by many other Mughal emperors. From here, we head towards the Old Delhi part, on reaching visit the Jama Masjid, one the largest mosque in India, built by Shah Jahan. Every Friday the prayers are offered to Allah here, by the Muslims. Here, we will explore the old market of Delhi called Chandni Chowk (moonlight square), which is built by Shah Jahan's daughter. The best way to explore the area is by rickshaw ride, which will ride you through narrow streets where you will see the busy shopkeepers, buyers with a lot of bags in their hands, open shops on streets, ladies bargaining the markets. You will see the variety of people and culture here. Overnight stay occurs at Delhi.

Day 08 : Delhi – Goa (Flight)

After breakfast fly to Goa, the most beautiful beach destination of India. Airport transfers in Delhi and Goa are arranged for our convenience. In Goa, you will be shifted to your beautiful beach resort. Sparkling beaches, white sand, swaying palms, Portuguese colonies, delicious sea food and the fun filled lifestyle of Goa attracts over two million visitors every year. Enjoy the rest of the day at your resort or the beach near resort.

Day 09: Old Goa and Spice Market Tour

After breakfast move towards the beautiful old town of Goa. Drive towards Se Cathedral, one of the largest church buildings made during the Portuguese era in Asia, located at Old Goa, also known for its one of the largest golden Bells in the world. Then, visit the world most renowned place, the Basilica of Bom Jesus, where the mummified body of the patron saint of Goa, St. Francis Xavier is rested. In afternoon, we will enjoy the local Goan food, at the spice plantations of Goa. After having lunch, we will head towards the markets and local Goan boutiques with our guide. In free time will be given to you, to enjoy the walks at the market, later drop you to one of the beaches, where you can spend time at leisure, and enjoy the walks to the resort.

Day 10: Goa

Day 11: Goa - Mumbai / Delhi (Flight)

After leisurely breakfast at the resort, get assisted to the airport to board your flight to Mumbai or Delhi. Meeting and assistance upon arrival in Mumbai and then get transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy walking through the local markets at Mumbai / Delhi to shop for friends and family. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 12: Leave Mumbai / Delhi
